Former and current Eszterlánc dancers gathered to remember Katalin Szabó, a prominent figure in the San Francisco Bay Area, mother of our dancer and secretary, Victoria Szabó-Lengyel.
Katalin Szabó was a “guardian angel” for Éva Kish while she studied at Stanford University in the second half of the 1970s.
When Éva needed to put together a group of people for her Master’s dissertation, Katalin gathered Hungarian youth from the Bay Area, and soon after established Eszterlánc Hungarian Folk Ensemble.
